Time off management flow
Use the time_off_management flow to let employer admins configure and manage Holiday, PTO, and Sick policies directly inside your product, mapped to Gusto’s payroll‑integrated time off system so accruals and balances behave as expected in payroll.

Supported policy types
The flow supports a basic set of policy types with lightweight configuration per type.

| Vacation (PTO) | Unlimited or accrual-based vacation policies. |
| Sick | Unlimited or accrual-based sick policies. |
| Holiday | A holiday policy based on a standard list of federal holidays, with per-holiday toggles. |
What admins can do in the flow
Set up and update policies
Admins can create a policy, name it, and configure policy details.
Manage employees on a policy
Admins can:
- Add employees to a policy
- Remove employees (including bulk remove)
- Edit employee balances
When an employee is added to a new Vacation (PTO) policy, they’re removed from their existing vacation policy and their balance carries over into the new policy setup.
Rules and constraints
- One holiday policy per company
- One vacation policy per employee: Multiple vacation (PTO) policies can exist, but each employee can only be assigned to one vacation policy at a time. If an employee is assigned to a new vacation policy, they’re removed from the prior one and their balance transfers.
