What is On-Demand Pay / Earned Wage Access (EWA)?

On-Demand Pay, also known as Earned Wage Access (EWA), gives employees the option to access earned wages / funds before their scheduled payday. Clair on-demand pay is available through the Company and Employee Earned Wage Access Enrollment Flows.

Launching the company_earned_wage_access_enrollment Flow will display the following:

2. Employer - Granting Access

Clair needs access to specific payroll information at both employer and employee levels in order to offer on-demand pay. Clicking “Connect” will enable access to this information, allow viewing + managing of users, sync employee + payroll information, and manage payrolls accordingly.

[Employee POV] Flow Experience Walkthrough

1. Employee - Opt In

Once the company has connected to Clair, their employees will be able to opt-in during the payroll onboarding process (after entering their banking information).

2. Clair - Account Signup

Upon opt-in, employees will be able to sign up for a Clair account by providing information like name, email, and SSN. On occasion, employees will need to wait to have their information verified.

Gusto - Onboarding Completion

Gusto employee onboarding can be completed without Clair. In addition, the employee must be fully onboarded through Gusto before they will be able to use Clair’s ODP service. Partners offering Clair may need to provide additional guidance here.

3. Download the Clair App

Once sign up and verification have been confirmed, employees will need to download the Clair app on their mobile phone to access their bank account. In order to be eligible for On-Demand Pay, employees can select a percentage (up to 100%) of their paycheck to direct deposit into their Clair Spending Account.

4. Completion

Employees can then use the Clair App to instantly advance a portion of their day’s wages without incurring any fees.
